Oaks is a vineyard nestled in the historic Glenwood area
of the Santa Cruz mountains, where grapes have been grown since
ladies wore hoop skirts and carried parasols. Winemaker Val Rebhahns
family is the fifth generation to live on the same land, continuing
the wine-making tradition begun by the C.C. Martin family in the
late 1880s.
At that time Glenwood was a bustling community catering to tourists
making rail connection north to San Francisco or south to Santa
Cruz. Glenwood wines also made the journey north: Steam trains would
pull off the main line onto a spur near Bean Creek, where a foot
bridge connected the winery to the loading platform.
The Rebhahn family is committed to continuing the tradition of producing
quality wines from this historic area.
Our Glenwood Oaks label honors the historic past as well as our
commitment to a new generation of wine enthusiasts. The train no
longer rumbles through Glenwood. Hoop skirts and parasols are long
gone, but fine Glenwood wines are here forever.
